Binti Uongozini was created to support youth female politicians in their political careers. It is a platform for young women to share their political experiences and learn from each other.

Binti Uongozini shows the triumphs as well as the challenges of youth female politicians. It portrays the candidates and demonstrates their steps towards a career in politics. It also showcases their political projects at the community level.

Our goal at Binti Uongozini is to motivate young women to join politics so as to bring change to the society. The platform serves as an inspiration for other young women aspiring to have a career in politics.

The platform was initiated by the Hanns Seidel Foundation (HSF) Kenya & Ethiopia in partnership with Creatives Garage. HSF is a German political foundation working towards contributing to democracy, peace, and development.

Women in Kenyan politics face numerous challenges such as lack of finances, cultural bias and being recognized only when featured by a male politician.

To address these challenges, HSF established in 2017 a platform for youth female politicians. The aim of this platform is to address the various challenges and constraints that female politicians face in their run for political office.

Binti Uongozini also provides a network for youth female politicians. The women are given the opportunity to exchange with each other about their successes as well as their setbacks. The candidates build a community and work together to find solutions to overcoming shared difficulties and celebrate their achievements.
