100 MILLION ARTISTS STIMULUS PACKAGES

MEETING TO DISCUSS WAY FORWARD

HOST: KAMP, PRISK and MCSK

VENUE: JUMUIA HOUSE

Date 12th May 2020 from 10:00 am to 11:30am

The declaration of COVID-19 by world health organization as a global pandemic, the music and Arts industry has been hard hit by a series of festivals and event cancellations due to the government directive through the ministry of health to cancel any gathering in an effort to curb the spread of the virus.

To support the creatives the president on 6th April 2020 directed the ministry of sports culture and heritage to avail 100 million Kenya shillings from the Sports fund to help cushion them from the hard-economic times impacted by the pandemic. This move is much appreciated from H.E President Uhuru Kenyatta.

As CMOs we have been waiting for directive on how the funds would be utilized until 11th May 2020.When the CS Cabinet Secretary Ministry of Sports, Culture and Heritage Amb. Dr Amina Mohamed launched the WORK FOR PAY. As KAMP, PRISK and MSCK we had been very hopeful that we would be involved in the implementation of stimulus package. As per the statement that was shared to the media houses and online platforms the implementation will be carried out by agencies under the ministry of Sports Culture and Heritage. As CMOs we feel that we are best placed to Undertake the implementation of the stimulus fund since we have a registration of 20,000 creatives.

KAMPK, PRISK and MCSK consequently requests the CS Cabinet Secretary Ministry of Sports, Culture and Heritage Amb. Dr Amina Mohamed to consider CMOs to be part of the institutions to implement the president’s good intention gesture.
