
CREATIVES GARAGE ANNOUNCES NOMINEES FOR 3RD SONDEKA AWARDS
42 Nominees from Kenya and East Africa have been selected from over 200 successful applicants as finalists for the Sondeka Awards.
(Nairobi, Kenya, March. 3, 2020) Creatives Garage has compiled the list of final nominees for the 3rd annual Sondeka Awards. 42 nominees were selected from Kenya from an applicant pool of over 200 successful applicants. The awards were created by Creatives Garage to recognise members of the art community for excellence in their respective fields.
The categories for the awards are Traditional Art, Short Stories, Poetry and spoken word, Online Radio and Podcasts, Live Bands, Experimental Music and Digital Art. A panel of judges consisting of Liz Kilili, Muthoni Gathecha and Victor Gatonye will also select one creative to receive a lifetime achievement award. This award goes out to individuals who,during their lifetimes, have made creative contributions of outstanding significance to the African creative economy and scene.Members of the public are urged to vote via www.sondeka.org before the deadline of 27th March 2020. The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony that will be held on 1st April 2020. In addition to the awards handover the event will also have live performances by artists from around the region including Serro, Saisi and Renee Githinji. The latter was part of the winner last year in her category, dance.
