Charlene Mwamjeni is a singer, songwriter, and guitarist.

She identifies as an eclectic, engineer and holds dearly the bohemian renaissance. Charlene goes by the stage name of BlvckMoon and has been actively doing music for three years; within which she released her debut EP “Hertz” in October 2018.

The themes prevalent in her music are love and the emotions that result from it; tenderness, warmth, and pain. She also uses her music to draw empowerment towards spiritual enlightenment and exploration of awareness. She vibes with Astrology and the awe that comes with the possibility of analogizing the behavioral characteristics of celestial bodies to human ones. “This shows how connected we are to the universe, to the multiverse.” These themes are what has been triggered in her creative process. “Being very cathartic, they are linked in one way or another to events that have occurred in my life, and of course the fact that I love Astrology, and that reference to it comes with ease.”

BlvckMoon believes that the role of musicians in the society is to create and satiate the hunger that’s a result of inspiration, and putting it out there for anyone else that resonates with their work, or for anyone with the same purpose. The role of musicians is also to facilitate expression. “We often play, let alone write music as a response to our feelings, like some sort of reflection which communicates what’s within.”

The new age artist draws inspiration from objects, emotions, or even extra-terrestrial events. The themes mentioned above, are however where she majorly draws inspiration for her creative process from. “It’s a very dynamic process that is not limited to the said themes.”

Her ultimate goal is to morph into the versatile artist she pictures her higher self as, that is, apart from being a singer /songwriter/guitarist, to be a multi-instrumentalist, perhaps a painter too. She gets satisfaction from the frankness in her expression.

Despite the limited financial and human resources required to execute her craft in the best way possible, she stands strong and positive that one day she will accomplish most if not all of her desires. Her mantra; Just do it!
